I received an update notification on 13-Apr. As soon as I got home, I connected my phone to my PC and started the update process using Zune. The new firmware is 7.10.8779.8 simply known as Windows Phone 7.8. It’s one of the most awaited update for Windows Phone 7.5 users since Windows Phone 8 is not supported for Windows Phone 7.5 devices. Below are some of the new stuff:

  • Resizeable Live Tiles.
  • 20 Accent Colors to choose from for your Theme. Nokia users have 21, the additional one being Nokia Blue.
  • New icons for Outlook, Games, etc.
  • Supports certain new apps for example Ringtone Maker and Bluetooth Share from Nokia Collection.

New Tyres

We made a trip back to Ipoh on 31-Aug-12 for Rosalie’s birthday celebration (in advanced). My back-right tyre was having a leak problem. On reaching Ipoh, I drove straight to the petrol station to check the tyre pressure. However, after pulling out the air pump nozzle the whole rubber valve shot out. I decided to just pump just enough to bring the car to change the valve. At the tyre shop, my tyres were inspected and was advised to change all 4 tyres as they were quite worn. I also changed all 4 valves to stainless steel type. Thinking back, I felt really lucky to be able to reach Ipoh. After the change I drove with much more confidence. My new rubbers are Dunlop Formula D 01 195/60/R15 (88H). I was previously using Michelin XM1, which was replaced by XM2. The tyre shop recommended 34psi. On the highway, at 120-130km/h, I felt the car swaying a little. After increasing pressure to 35psi, the car is more steady.

Update: Nissan Grand Livina 1.8L Fuel Consumption

My Nissan Grand Livina 1.8L has served me well for 4 years and clocked 99000km. The fuel consumption is averaging about 8.6L/100km. There is no deterioration in fuel consumption so far. I have been faithfully bringing my car for service every 5000km at Tan Chong Expres Auto Servis Sdn. Bhd., Bayan Lepas. I am still using Castrol Magnatec Semi-Synthetic engine oil. My 2nd set of tyres are pretty worn already, and is due for change. Time to save up some money.

‘Skinny Dippin’ – From the Album ‘La Dolce Vita’ – by Warren Hill

Got myself busy for the past 2 weeks transcribing this piece. ‘Skinny Dippin’ is a catchy tune taken from Warren Hill’s album ‘La Dolce Vita’. Doing this help keep my interest in music alive. I may not have caught all the details, but I would say, it’s enough to get you busy. Will work on the chords next. Playing the melody on keyboard is already pretty difficult, what more doing it on the saxophone. I guess I could just fit in the brass section and leave the sax solo to Mr. Hill.
