We celebrated Fathers’ Day with Ying’s family at Akamomiji Japanese Restaurant at Medan Ipoh Bistari. We ordered a variety of dishes including soba noodles, bento sets, temaki, maki, grilled shishamo and sanma. The sanma holds special significance to the autumn theme of the restaurant. The private room that we booked was also decorated with autumn scenes. The food was good and there were a few out of the ordinary creations. We topped it off with some warm sake. Nice!

High Tea at Makanan Traditional Taiwan (Yong He Dou Jiang)

Sat, 6-Jun-09. We made a trip back to Ipoh for the long weekend. Upon reaching Ipoh, we had high tea at Makanan Traditional Taiwan (Yong He Dou Jiang) at Medan Ipoh Bistari. As you exit the NS Highway at Ipoh Selatan south-bound, it is after McDonald’s and behind PC Depot. GPS Coordinates: N04º 37.204′, E101º 7.042′. As the name suggests, they serve traditional Taiwanese cuisine and soya milk. We had Thick Soup Noodle, Pan Fried Radish Cake and Egg Roll. As for drinks, we tried Soya Milk Plain and Soya Rice Milk. The Soya Rice Milk has a nice fragrance – recommended. My only complaint is that they don’t provide chili sauce.
